Analysis Of My First Continuity Task For Sean

There is no fade up so the first edit is a straight cut. The first shot is a close up, implying that the person is looking at someone or something. We then have an eye-line match cut to the next shot, which is:

A high angle, showing the objects that the person is looking at. This is a point of view shot, although actually thinking about it the shot is not at a high enough angle really to match the person's eyes.

We then cut too:
A match on action of the person rolling a cigarette and then a close up of the cigarette being rolled. Thinking back to it, the shot could of been shortened a little.

The next shot is of another person walking down a corridor. It then cuts back to the other person rolling a cigarette implying that both events are happening at the same time. This is called cross cutting. Cross cutting means that they are both happening at the same time and that they will come together.

The next shot is another match of action of the person opening the door, which is a close up of his hand on the door handle then shows the person walking through the door.

The final shots are shot/reverse shots of both people looking and talking to each other, then there is a establishing shot and then goes back to shot/reverse shots and ends with a establishing shot.

  1. This is very short and lacking in detail Oscar. You will need to try to write more fully in future. We can discuss this.

  2. Better now. Still somewhat lacking in detail but generally correct terminology and examples.
